Welcome to my blog.  My name is Paul Baker and I am the founder of AIA Technologies, Inc.

I have a passion for technology – I love it and always have. I was hooked after taking my first first computer class at the University of Florida in 1979. I received my Bachelor’s degree in computer science in 1982 and years later I added a Master’s degree, also in computer science.

Through my career, I been have employed by industry leaders in technology. I have had the opportunity to live abroad and travel around the globe doing what I love which is solving business problems by applying innovation through automation using technology.

My domain area has always been airline passenger and flight operation systems (reservations, check-In, ticketing, and my specialty load planning/aircraft weight and balance). Airlines were one of the first global users of the computer and the airline industry was also one of the first to recognize the need to have a shared information network. My knowledge of information technology and software development has matured along side these complex systems.

I have worked on countless projects big and small over the past thirty years. The roles have varied from project to project and have included product definition, system design/architecture, construction, quality assurance, and delivery. It is very rewarding to be part of a successful project where all of the hard work, countless hours, and sleepless nights culminate on cut-over day. It’s a great feeling to know that “we’re live” and that you were part of it.

Of all the roles I’ve held, I enjoy architecture and development the most.  I’ll be using this blog to share the knowledge I’ve learned over the years.  I hope you find it interesting.
